The Nikon HB-63 Bayonet lens hood is a replacement lens hood designed for specific NIKKOR lenses, including the AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR. The Nikon HB-63 is used to prevent stray light from entering the front lens surface causing flare. By reducing the amount of non-essential light falling onto the front lens element, lenses can better achieve their optimum optical performance, producing more saturated images.
