Hasselblad has undoubtedly changed the game with the announcement of the mirrorless medium format Hasselblad X1D. Join Hasselblad and pictureline on July 11th for a hands-on demonstration of the new X-system body and lenses from 1pm - 4pm. Register for this complimentary, private event by checking out with the event in your cart, or emailing support@pictureline.com
Most notably, the compact size makes the X1D Hasselblad’s first eligible contender for run-and-gun style photography. At 1.6 pounds, this body weighs a full two pounds less than the New H6D series, half the weight of Nikon and Canon’s flagship models, the D5 and 1D X Mark II, respectively.
Hasselblad photographers are well invested in their glass. Fortunately for them, H-series lenses are compatible with the mirrorless X system using a mount adapter that should be available by the time the body ships at the end of July.
Though the nearly $9,000 price tag may place this camera slightly out of range of a photo enthusiast's pocket-change, the phenomenal 16-bit color definition and 14 stops of dynamic range captured by the large 43.8 × 32.9mm 50MP CMOS sensor might make you think twice before shrugging it aside.
We look forward to exploring this camera, and testing its limits with you on July 11th!
