Description
For many years, vloggers and content producers have been struggling to adapt a compact camera to meet their unique needs. Sony has seen this evolving space and has responded by introducing the Sony ZV-1 Digital Camera, which is specifically aimed at those video producers who need exceptionally high quality output, with features and expandability to supplement their production value. By borrowing technology and features from the popular RX100 series cameras, and updated the design and usability, Sony has created the perfect vlogging platform.
Custom designed for vlogging use
The ZV-1 has a side flip-out 3” touchscreen and a directional 30capsule microphone to allow for superior audio quality, easy camera control, and confirmation of framing, all while actively filming. There is a front tally lamp to confirm recording is happening, an enlarged REC button on the top of the camera, Active SteadyShot image stabilizing technology, and an included wind screen for the built-in microphone, further enhancing the forward-facing video recording capabilities of this camera. For those looking to add on further, the ZV-1 also has a 3.5mm microphone port and Sony’s Multi Interface Shoe for adding on additional accessories.
Revolutionary 1" sensor and processing technology
The ZV-1 utilizes Sony’s 1” 20.1MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor, and processes the images with their newest BIONZ X Image Processor. The sensor is capable of delivering outstanding image quality across the ISO range, and thanks to the unique sensor stack structure, it does it incredibly fast as well. The data from the sensor is processed by the new BIONZ X image processor, which further increases the speed of the processing. The result is a camera that is capable of shooting blackout free up to 24fps, UHD 4K video enabled at 30/24 fps, has incredible low light performance, all in a pocket-sized package.
Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens
The ZF-1 has followed the ZX100 cameras that inspired it, and is using the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens. This lens is designed to maximize the quality and resolution of the sensor in the camera, and has a zoom range equivalent to 24-70mm. The variable aperture of f/1.8-2.8 allows for working in a variety of low-light conditions or controlling depth of field, providing flexibility and control when needed. And because it’s a Zeiss designed lens, the optical performance is unmatched for a compact camera.
Advance hybrid AF system
The ZF-1 has an onboard phase-detect AF system that's customized for speed on both still images and video. This hybrid system uses 315 phase detect points, which cover 65% of the frame, and 425 contrast detect points for extremely fast and accurate focus regardless of the situation. The ZF-1 can use real-time tracking to follow moving subjects, and has incorporated Sony’s new Eye AF which will work on human or animal subjects, so now even the family dog can be a vlogging superstar!
