Hahnemühle Protective Spray protects digital Fine Art prints from external influences. The aerosol spray lays like a fine film on the paper, without changing the paper structure. It fixes colors of pigment-and dye ink and prevents an eventual color fading also the intensity and the high brilliance of the colors stay permanently. Hahnemühle Protective Spray renders an inkjet print UV and water resistant. The non-toxic coating is sprayed directly on to the image and then allowed to air dry.
The coating increases the abrasion resistance of Fine Art papers, so the risk of fingerprint marks and scratches are reduced. Protective Spray makes the sealing of the surface water repellent. The improved formulation is fast drying and virtually odorless. A yellowing of the print due to the spray is not possible.
The increase in fade resistance offered by using Hahnemühle Protective Spray varies from ink type to ink type. With dye based inks, the useful display life without noticeable fade can be increased by as much as 100% compared to a non-coated image. Even when applied to the latest pigment based inksets Hahnemühle Protective Spray increases fade resistance by more than double on some papers and canvases. Hahnemühle Protective Spray is suitable for most types of inkjet media.
