You may have read a recent announcement provided by HOYA CORPORATION and PENTAX Corporation of Japan regarding the management integration of these two companies that is expected to be completed on October 1, 2007. Designed to combine and realign the business areas of HOYA and PENTAX, this merger will allocate significant management resources to develop strategic business areas aimed at accelerating future growth.
Based on my latest communication with Executive Management of PENTAX Corporation in Tokyo, I was assured that the PENTAX digital camera business will continue in the future with a particular emphasis on Digital SLR and High Value-Added Compact Digital Point-and-Shoot cameras. PENTAX will invest more human and financial resources for digital camera research and development functions and will increase its investments in brand awareness to grow the digital camera business and enhance the business value under the new company.
In the United States, the combined companies currently operate various optics, imaging and life care related divisions. There are currently no plans to physically relocate any of these businesses.
In forming the new company, HOYA PENTAX HD Corporation recognized we are the best possible business partners to establish a solid business structure that draws on our complementary strengths. We’re very optimistic the future for PENTAX is only going to get better.
Sincerely,
Jim Kast
President
PENTAX Imaging Company
