Abbey's Road...side Attractions: Photographing Ed Abbey's landscape in the Moab area.
September 11, 2008 to September 14, 2008
Cost: $725 (including 3 nights lodging in Moab)
Visit BruceHuckoPhoto.com for more information
The focus of this workshop is on the landscape of Arches, Canyonlands, the Moab area and the legacy of author Edward Abbey. We'll employ Ed's writing, especially Desert Solitaire as a catalyst for exploring our own thoughts about landscape and the role(s) we humans play in relation to it. We will work towards crafting photographs that express these thoughts and feelings. From our Moab base we'll venture into the landscape each day to photograph and share each other's company. Fieldwork will concentrate on composition and the crafting of personally meaningful photographs. We don't want anyone going home with postcards that anyone else may have taken. We want you going home with photographs that say as much about you as they do about your subject. We'll also explore the written word, Abbeys and our own, and the relationship between word and image.

About the IPPA
The IPPA or Intermountain Professional Photography Association exists (among other things), to help professional photographers develop their skills, raise and improve the standard of professional photography, and to foster new and creative ideas for their business. Being active in the organization and taking advantage of the many educational opportunities sponsored by the IPPA will enhance and improve your talents as a professional photographer.
During the year there are scheduled at least three quarterly seminars and other various activities. These seminars generally consist of one-day events with well-known speakers who present subjects of interest to all of us aspiring to learn and achieve greater success in our field of photography. Additionally once a year, during the fall, we get together for our annual convention, which runs three days and includes one of the larges photographic trade shows and print competitions in the area. Scholarships to approved PP of A photographic schools are also given away at the Quarterly and Annual Conventions.
Membership in the IPPA gives you the chance to make new friends and learn what other professional photographers are doing and how they are solving some of the same problems and challenges you may have.

The Center for the Arts is located one block from the historic Jackson town square. Grand Teton National Park begins immediately north of town and the southern entrance to Yellowstone National Park is a 45 minute drive from the town at the north end of Grand Teton. Jackson is surrounded by the National Elk Refuge, National Forests and scenic ranch land.
