Steve Fogarty is father to the four best boys ever, and husband to a much better woman than he deserves, Chris Fogarty.

What makes FogartyFOTO different from other family portrait photographers? Lighting!

FogartyFOTO portraits are consistently more crisp, beautiful and WOW because they are always carefully lit, regardless of the location or time of day.

While many beginning "available light" photographers get very nice (if flat) light on cloudy days and in the shade, FogartyFOTO is able to create your family's large environmental wall portrait any time and any day because we bring portable studio lighting with us to one of our many spectacular locations, or to your family's favorite place.

If your family can only get together during the hard light of a cloudless morning, FogartyFOTO artfully and expertly complement that light to create a timeless, unforgettable heirloom portrait that only becomes more valuable with every passing moment. And if your family can only get together at night, or on a rainy day, FogartyFOTO will create a gorgeous portrait of your beautiful family in our full studio.

Chris Fogarty is the cheery voice and pretty face of FogartyFOTO, the one who answers your phone call and your questions, sets up your appointment, and generally makes sure everything about your FogartyFOTO experience runs smoothly and beyond your expectations. While her first job is as mother to our four rambunctious boys, a job in which she excels, Chris also excels in her commitment to your satisfaction as a FogartyFOTO client.

Steve Fogarty is your principal photographer. After a successful career in computers, Steve took seriously to his longstanding photography passion in 2004, and has since studied with some of the best and most successful photographers working today, including: wedding photojournalist inventor and legend Denis Reggie; fashion photography superstar Matthew Jordan Smith, photojournalistic legend Joe McNally, portrait & wedding photography doyenne Bambi Cantrell, and editorial photography wunderkind Doug Merriam.

Steve teaches Lighting for Photography for beginning and advanced photographers up at the University of Utah Continuing Education School of Life Long Learning.

This Fall '08 Steve will again be teaching an introduction to Lighting for Photography class at the University of Utah, and an intermediate / advanced Studio Lighting for Photography class at Pictureline.

Steve's commitment to constant education and improvement actively involves him with many professional photography associations, including: Professional Photographers of America, Wedding & Portrait Photographers International, the Santa Fe Workshops, and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
My main photographic interests are:
family events/vacations, portraits, children
How I got started in photography:
A 35mm film camera I bought in college. I took seriously to studying photography after a career in computers. Since then I've studied at the Santa Fe Workshops with some of the most successful working photographers today, including Joe McNally, Denis Reggi, Matthew Jordan Smith, Bambi Cantrell and others. And I've been lucky enough to assist and learn from some of Utah's most successful and generous photographers.
Favorite subject:
The Cycle of Life, the Love of Family. People and things in all their inherent beauty.
Years photographing:
I've been seriously studying and shooting photography since 2004.
Equipment:
Canon everything, lots of Canon glass, two Canon bodies (5D & 1D Mark II), White Lightning strobes, Quantum, Windows PC, iView / Expression Media, Photoshop, Corel Painter.
My philosophy:
Make photographs that matter by Capturing the Cycle of Life, and Celebrating the Love of Family.
